How We Rate Piano Movers
Our job is sorting real piano movers from general movers who simply list pianos among their services. Here is exactly what we check, and just as important, what we don’t.
How we check a mover’s website
We only give the Rated badge after checking a mover’s own website for proof that it moves pianos. That might be a dedicated piano-moving service page, or a piano store or piano technician that states it moves pianos too. When we find it, we record the page and the month we checked, and the listing shows that line as “verified on their website, September 2026.”
Everything else a listing shows (phone number, service area, services, year founded, anything they say about insurance, any prices they publish) also comes from the business’s own website, and we link to where we found it. If their website doesn’t say something, we leave it out rather than guess.

What the Rated badge requires
A business gets the Rated badge when both of these are true:
It is a verified piano mover, as described above, from its own website.
It has a strong public review record: 4.5 stars or higher from at least 10 Google reviews, at the time we checked (September 2026).
Reviews change over time, so a business can gain or lose the badge when we check again.
The three groups on each city page
Rated. We found proof on their own website that they move pianos, and they met the review standard above.
Checked, not yet rated. We found proof on their own website that they move pianos, but they did not meet the review standard when we checked.
Not yet verified. They appear in local listings for piano moving, but we couldn’t verify piano moving on their website yet. Their website may not load, may not mention pianos, or they may not have one. No badge, and nothing on the listing should be read as a recommendation.
We show roughly how many Google reviews each business has, in bands such as 200+, as of the month we checked, and link to the reviews so you can read them yourself.
How listings are ordered
On each city page, Rated businesses come first, then “checked, not yet rated,” then “not yet verified.” Within each group, the business with the larger public review record comes first; you can check it yourself with the Google reviews link on each listing.
Order is never for sale.
What we do NOT check
We check websites and public reviews. We do not check:
- Licenses or permits
- Insurance, or what any insurance would pay out
- Background checks on owners or staff
- The quality of any individual move
When a listing says a business is insured, that is the business’s own statement from its website, not something we have confirmed. Before you book, ask the mover directly and get the answers in writing.
Found a mistake?
If a listing is wrong or out of date, tell us and we will check it again. Businesses can see their listing, request a correction or ask to be added on our page for piano movers.
